House extensions
in Leicester.
Create a kitchen that connects to the rest of your home, or make room across both floors. Milford & Sons brings the structure, trades and finishing together, with completed projects in Leicester and nearby Wigston.

Your home, considered as a whole
Milford & Sons is based in Kettering and considers extension projects in Leicester as part of our wider working area. We can build from supplied drawings or coordinate architectural plans and structural calculations through Charlie’s architect collaboration. Tell us your site address, the space you need and your current planning or drawings stage.
An extension should make the existing house work better.
Adding floor area is only part of the brief. A kitchen extension also needs to connect to the rooms, circulation and garden you already have. Decide what should happen in the new room, what will happen to the old kitchen and whether the rest of the ground floor needs to change.
On our Leicester renovation, two existing small extensions were brought together with a new rear addition and a flat roof across the combined space. The result was a larger family kitchen, with rear glazing opening to the terrace. The work continued through the house and garden rather than stopping at the extension walls.
Single-storey space or changes across both floors.
Our extension work includes rear and side additions, single-storey kitchens and two-storey accommodation. The right scope depends on how the whole house will be used, the design and the construction information available.
The nearby Wigston project combined two-storey rear and side extensions with a smaller single-storey addition. Milford & Sons followed supplied plans for a new double-hipped cut roof, an additional bedroom and bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen. A garage conversion added a separate leisure room.
Living at home needs its own plan.
Tell Charlie early if you hope to remain in the house. Access, the working area, kitchen and bathroom availability, and the order of the work all need to be discussed before agreeing practical arrangements.
The Leicester clients stayed at home during their renovation. The team created a temporary kitchen at the front and made the rear extension watertight before progressing through the existing rooms. That is a real example of phased working, rather than a promise that every project can follow the same programme.
Agree what happens after the shell is built.
An extension quotation should make the boundary between the structure and the finished room clear. Discuss glazing, roof lanterns, kitchen supply and installation, electrical work, plastering, flooring and changes to the existing house. If landscaping is part of the brief, include it from the start.
Our Leicester project included a full rewire, replastering, flooring and garden work alongside the extension. Your own scope may be smaller or different; defining it clearly helps the design, build and finishing be considered together.

Before you begin
Your extension questions.
Are you based in Leicester?
Our base is Kettering. We consider projects in Leicester and the surrounding region, within around 90 minutes’ drive depending on the site and scope. Please include your full site address so Charlie can confirm coverage.
Can you work with my existing architect’s drawings?
Yes. We have delivered extensions in Leicester and Wigston from supplied plans. Send your drawings, current planning status and the work you want included so Charlie can discuss the information needed for a quotation.
Can you help before I have drawings?
Yes. Start with how you want the house to work. Charlie works alongside an architect who can provide plans and structural calculations, allowing the design information to be coordinated with construction.
Can the kitchen and garden be part of the extension project?
They can be included in the agreed scope. Our Leicester case study shows the rear addition, kitchen, renovation and garden delivered as one wider project. Discuss supply, installation and finishes explicitly when requesting a quote.
