A whole-home transformation in Leicester
Two disconnected extensions brought together as a larger family kitchen, alongside a full-house renovation and garden transformation.

The project
The brief
The house already had two small extensions, but they did not work well together. The family wanted a larger kitchen and a more connected living space, with the rest of the house and garden brought into the same transformation.
Milford & Sons approached the project as a complete design-and-build brief. The aim was to make better use of what was already there, rather than treat the new extension as an isolated addition.
Bringing the existing spaces together
Charlie combined a new rear addition with the two existing extensions. The separate roofs were removed and a new flat roof was built across the whole space, bringing the old and new areas together beneath one roof.
The new section, identified by its sliding doors, completes the larger kitchen area. A substantial quartz waterfall island, an oak post and recessed lighting give the finished interior its character, while the rear glazing connects it to the terrace and garden.
Working around family life
The homeowners remained in the house during the work. The team created a temporary kitchen at the front of the property and carried out the project in stages, getting the rear extension watertight before moving through the existing house.
That phased approach continued through a full rewire, replastering and new flooring. As completed areas became available, the family could move between spaces while the team worked around them.
The result
Carried out from April into autumn 2025, the project turned a collection of separate rooms and extensions into a larger family kitchen and a renovated home. The garden works completed the connection between the interior and outdoor space.
