A private pool and complete garden in Northampton
A paving and decking brief grew into a bespoke heated pool, glazed outdoor structure, pool house and complete garden transformation.

The project
A brief that grew
Milford & Sons was initially asked to carry out paving and decking at the top of the garden. The property also had an existing above-ground swimming pool within a conservatory-style enclosure, and the conversation developed into a much wider project.
Charlie took on the design and build of a replacement pool and its surrounding spaces. The brief grew to include the whole garden and a garage conversion, bringing leisure space, practical equipment rooms and landscaping together.
Building the pool and glazed space
The new heated pool holds 47,000 litres. It was tanked and finished with mosaic tiles, with steps providing access into the water and porcelain paving around the outside.
The work included the pool pumps and filtration systems, together with extraction and dehumidification equipment. A glazed structure and three roof lanterns bring daylight into the pool space while retaining views across the garden.
Creating the pool house and garden
The team converted the garage at the rear into a pool house containing a bathroom, a dedicated pump room and an open living area. This gave the pool its supporting facilities as well as somewhere to spend time beside the water.
Paving, decking and the wider landscaping were completed as part of the same project. The porcelain surround connects the pool with the garden, and the glazing gives the space a strong presence after dark.
The result
Across approximately 11 months of work, the original paving and decking job became a complete outdoor transformation. Milford & Sons delivered the pool, its equipment, the converted pool house and the surrounding garden as one coordinated project.
